WCSC Coach Rachel Mercik in Sweden for a professional tryout!!

A few weeks back Coach Rachel was in Sweden for a 7-day tryout and has signed with Swedish 1st Division club Vittsjo GIK.  The Swedish league is a very high level, and she will be playing against quality players and World Cup stars such as Brazil’s, Marta; Netherland’s Manon Melis; and New Zealand’s Ali Riley.
Rachel’s preseason will start on January 12th when she begins a long 10 month season.  Until then Rachel will be here working with WCSC kids and preparing for the next step in her soccer journey.
Rachel has been a great member of our coaching staff, had a very positive impact on our players, and thoroughly loved her experience.  In her words:  “I hope that once I am done with my professional career I can come back and help out at WCSC!”

WCSC Coach Rachel Mercik in Sweden for a professional tryout!!

This week our U12G Villareal coach, Rachel Mercik, is in Sweden going through a tryout with professional club Linkoping FC.  Linkoping plays in the Swedish 1st Division (Damalisvenskan) and Rachel will be with the club on a trial from Nov 14th-21st.
Rachel played collegiately at Cal-Berkeley where she was named the team’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2013/14.  She was also a member of the US Under 20 & 23 National team player pools.  This past season Rachel played professionally in Germany.
