Former WCSC Azzurri player, Andre Rawls, was originally drafted in 2015 with the 44th pick by New York City FC of Major League Soccer (MLS).    For the 2015 season Andre was assigned to the clubs affiliate, USL Wilmington Hammerheads, where he started 22nd games and had a very solid season in goal.   Andre was recently recalled to the NYCFC roster and signed to his first MLS contract.
After finishing his career with WCSC, Andre went on to star at Saint Mary’s College where he was named 2014 West Coast Conference (WCC) Goalkeeper of the Year.    Andre’s former WCSC Azzurri coach, Paul Curtis: “Andre was an exceptionally athletic player, who was focused on achieving his goals.   He had a great determination and fortitude.  Andre walked on at Saint Mary’s, and put in massive amounts of work to make the team, then win the starting job, and eventually become one of the top keepers in the nation.  He had a goal, knew it was going to be a great deal of work, and did something about it.   He never settled, but continued elevating and excelling in setting goals and achieving. He is a example and role model for other players.”
A hard working player and great role model, Andre came back to WCSC and spoke to players at our College Night in 2014. He also attended our AGM on the eve of the 2015 MLS draft.  For more information, please click on the link to the full article: http://www.nycfc.com/post/2016/03/03/new-york-city-fc-sign-goalkeeper-andre-rawls
