Spotlight on Great Sportsmanship: U9G House player Samantha Barry
Soon after the Walnut Tournament ended we received an email from U9G Coach Jamie Brennan regarding a player from another team they met in the tournament not once but twice. We felt it was worth sharing the note with all our members.
“I just wanted to tell you a story about a kind little girl that we played against (twice) this weekend. She played for Magic and my daughter is fairly certain her name was Sammy (she’s also fairly certain that she was #3). This child showed a jaw dropping amount of sportsmanship and kindness. In both games, one of my players got hurt, and this girl literally picked them up and hugged them before the ref even blew the whistle. She stood and hugged them until we could get out to the player. It was the cutest thing I have ever seen. On top of that, about 5 minutes after we lost our finals game in OT to them, she brought 3 friends over to our team and went on and on about how great our team was and how that was such a tough match and how great our players are. She brought a huge smile and more hugs.”
The player, Samantha Barry, from U9G Magic will receive a Certificate of Good Sportsmanship from the club and a gift card to our sponsor Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Thank you Samantha for warming all our hearts and Coach Jamie for bringing Samantha’s good sportsmanship to our attention.
