All three Walnut Creek Soccer Club Select teams made the championship round in the Santa Cruz Classic 2017 tournament. The U14 boys and U14 girls both finished in second place. The U12 girls took first in their division with a thrilling Double-overtime that was eventually decided in penalty kicks. The younger U12 girls WCSC Select Avalanche team battled a very physical ’06 Yuba/Sutter team for the championship.

WCSC Select U14 boys Warriors tied the Mustangs 04M team 1-1 on Saturday morning and then lost a tough game 2-1 against Mid-County Surf 05B Blue. What a hard loss, after being up 1-0 with less than 5 minutes left. The WCSC boys recovered Sunday morning with a 2-1 against Mid-County Surf 04 White to qualify for the Championship. The boys came in strong for a rematch against the Mid-County Surf 05 Blue. Down 1-1 at the half, they regrouped for the second half tying the game 1-1 before allowing Surf to take the game winner.
