On Sunday 2/25, the WCSC 05G Blue team competed in a State Cup Final match for the Platinum 2 Division. After 77 minutes of scoreless soccer, our hearts ALMOST broke when the opposing team managed a shot on goal – fortunately the ball found the left post and bounced into our goalkeeper’s welcoming hands.
The game ended in a 0-0 tie and the winner would be decided by penalty kicks. Both teams scored on their first 3 penalty kicks, but our keeper made a beautiful stop on their 4th attempt. Walnut Creek found the back of the net on all 5 of its penalty kicks and 05G Blue hoisted the championship trophy with smiles all around! Congratulations to Coach Steve Bradley and 05G Blue!
