The ’03G Blue Premier team had a solid first event as they return to play this Spring. One of five WCSC teams to travel to this prestigious event, the girls had the opportunity to compete against teams from Cal-South, Colorado, Arizona and Minnesota. They opened up with on Friday with a convincing 5-1 win against Slammers FC from Cal South, and then beat Pride Copa SC from Colorado 1-0. On Saturday the girls played some fantastic soccer against San Clemente Surf EGSL (Cal South) and were up 3-1 before giving up two late goals which led to the game ending in a 3-3 tie. But the 2 wins and 1 tie in group play was solid enough to give the team the group win and a spot in the Semi-finals. In the Semi’s late Saturday, against Tanque Verde SC from Arizona (Ranked #8 in the State) WCSC played some quality attacking soccer and went up 3-0. Tanque Verde made it close getting two goals back late in the game, but it wasn’t enough and WCSC held on for the 3-2 victory and a place in the Finals.

In the Finals, our girls played Rev SC Girls Academy (ranked #1 in Minnesota) and it was a hard fought match that found the teams tied at the end of regulation 2-2. In PK’s WCSC keeper Bella Lopez made two saves but it wasn’t enough as Rev SC was able to take home the championship. Congrats to the girls on a fantastic start to their Spring!

Our ’03G Blue Premier are also in the Round of 16 (top group) for State Cup, and starting play in NPL 1 Spring League. The team is coached by Tom Ginocchio and is currently ranked 10th in Cal-North and #48 in the Nation.
